"Game of Thrones" just got a whole lot bigger as it was recently announced that the hit TV series would be landing on IMAX screens in the United States. The announcement came courtesy of Makinggameofthrones.com, which is the official blog for the HBO show.

A post on the blog stated that for one week in January those who were not satisfied with watching the show on TV would get a chance to see it on super big IMAX screens which are normally reserved for films. The last two episodes of the concluded fourth season titled "The Watchers on the Wall" and "Children" will be shown along with an extended trailer for the upcoming fifth season.

People will get a chance to see the two episodes which feature a lot of action and battle scenes in a remastered format that has been created specifically for the curved IMAX screen and its immersive experience.

Tickets for the special one-week screening, which is due to kick off on Jan. 23 and last until Jan. 29, will be priced at $13. Over 150 IMAX theaters will screen the back-to-back episodes.

Many estimate that the special event will be a big draw to fans of the popular show which drew over 19 million viewers per episode in its fourth season. Many expect that since a full length trailer for the fifth season has not been released yet, fans will flock to the theaters just to see the extended trailer.

The week-long event is also being described as the first instance of a TV show moving from the small screen to the big screen designed specifically for movies. However, it seems that this is a limited offering and the TV show has no plans to shift permanently onto the big screen. Instead those who plan to watch the fifth season of "Game of Thrones" will have to tune into HBO when it debuts in April this year.
