HBO's "Game of Thrones" ("GoT") has come off to be as one of the most successful television programs in history. With a huge amount of lore surrounding its existing world, a lot of fans are wondering about a possible spin-off series at some point in the future. HBO programming president Casey Bloys talked about a spin-off to "GoT" and the factors that could make the show possible.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bloys said, "For us, it's about finding the right take with the right writer."

Current showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have previously said to TVLine that they are "not interested" in working on a prequel series, but Bloys decided to stay more optimistic about their involvement.

She said, "I would not expect them to do it, because they're going to need to decompress for a good amount of time, but it would certainly be nice to have their involvement in some way. At what level? I have no idea."

As of now, "GoT" is up on its final stretch with only two seasons left to air next year and the year after that. The series will conclude a pop-culture phenomenon that started when the show first aired in April 2011.

The world has a lot of material to add into a spin-off series, which a lot of fans are undoubtedly interested in. The show could possibly follow the rise of the Targaryens and their use of dragons to claim rule over the Seven Kingdoms. There is also a lot of history surrounding the "Mad King" Aerys and how Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark fought the battle to end the Targaryen dynasty.

The show can even follow the story of the first men and how they had to fend off the wild creatures in the north by building The Wall. The lore is so rich that a spin-off would not have any trouble in finding its way to television.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is set to come out in 2017.
