'Game of Thrones' season 7 spoilers, plot news: Emilia Clarke goes back to work; Sansa and Arya to reunite, but one of them will die?
"Game of Thrones" season 7 is still a long ways off, with the hit HBO series expected to drop in Summer of 2017. Fortunately, the cast members and even the producers are not being stingy with updates to tide over fans' anticipation of the penultimate installment.
Recent spoilers hint that some old familiar faces like Gendry Baratheon (Joe Dempsey) might be back for season 7. Moreover, there are reports that the upcoming installment will see an epic battle between queens—Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey)—that will put season 6's classic "Battle of the Bastards" to shame.
Speaking of Daenerys, a recent Instagram post by Clarke reveals that Khaleesi is ready to lead her fleet anew. After a brief hiatus following the end of the sixth season, Clarke has reported back to work, but not before snapping a shot of her with her "crew." Check out the photo here.
It will be recalled that before the end credits for season 6 rolled, Daenerys was shown sailing back to Westeros to stake her claim to the Iron Throne. As the camera panned, her faithful wards Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) were shown traveling with her. Fans are hoping the crew stays intact even if they have to fight with Daenerys in the purported epic season 7 battle.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that siblings Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) will be reuniting, probably in Winterfell, before one of them eventually dies. The Stark children converging in Winterfell is like coming full circle.
Sansa is already there with her brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington) while Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) is very near and bearing the secret about Jon's true identity. It remains to be seen if this revelation will be a crucial part of "Game of Thrones" season 7.
In an interview with Variety, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jamie Lannister on the show, said that season 7 will be a season of family reunions. Hence, a Sansa-Arya reunion might be in order. That is, if Arya can be bothered long enough to take a break from her offing everyone on her hit-list.
Still, Turner seemed to have implied in a previous interview that not all of the present cast members will be there when the series ends. Was it her subtle way of saying that between her character and Arya, she's the one most likely to say goodbye after their purported impending reunion? That's something for fans to watch out when the series returns.
"Game of Thrones" season 7 is set to drop in Summer of 2017 only on HBO.
