'Gears of War 4' updates: Game trailer confirms Marcus Fenix's comeback
The former lead protagonist Marcus Fenix will be returning to the newest installment of the popular video game franchise "Gears of War," as confirmed by the fan favorite character's appearance in the gameplay campaign.
In the "Gears of War 4" trailer, Marcus is featured uttering the words, "Welcome home, James." This suggests that the legendary "Gear" soldier will be joining his son JD Fenix at some time during the course of the story. The presence of Sergeant Marcus in the gameplay trailer serves as a guarantee to the shooter video game's old-time players that he will indeed have a participation in the anticipated "Gears of War 4."
It is rather an interesting observation that in the teaser, Marcus sits alone in a room as someone pushes open the chamber's door. It can be recalled that Marcus and JD's relationship had previously suffered from a rift, which in turn would result in the story arc of "Gears of War 4." The gap between the father and son may have been instigated by the death of Anya Stroud who was JD's mother. It could also be that Marcus and Anya parted ways even before the episodes in "Gears of War 4" unfolded, and this then caused to taint the relationship between Marcus and his son.
These are the only tiny chunks of information about the main characters of "Gears of War 4" as its developer The Coalition and its publisher Microsoft Studios still keep most of the game's details under wraps. The companies might even decide to hold back more details about the return of Marcus until it finally releases "Gears of War 4."
While Marcus' role in and impact on the progress of the "Gears of War 4" plotline remains unknown, for now, avid "Gears of War" gamers can settle with the fact that he will take part in the game's upcoming installment.
"Gears of War 4" will be coming to both PC and Xbox One on Oct. 11.
