'Ghost in the Shell' release date, news and updates: New teaser shows Scarlett Johansson's in invisible camo suit
A lot of anime fans are anticipating the release of the live action adaptation of "Ghost in the Shell," and a new teaser has come out featuring Scarlett Johansson in what looks to be a recreation of a scene from the classic 1995 animated film.
The teaser has Johansson wearing the trademark camo suit that Kusanagi wore in the original movie, and the clip has her taking down a thug in what looks to be an inner city lake. The suit in the original anime was able to make Kusanagi invisible and she uses it whenever her work calls her to do stealth missions.
Major's bodysuit is also most likely to get attention since its appearance is making a nod to the original source material.
The clip also ends with a triangle that has the words "11.13 Tokyo." Could this mean that a full trailer may be coming on the 13th of this month? Numerous teasers have been revealed for the movie, but so far, none of them have been able to showcase the movie as a whole.
The official synopsis for the movie is as follows: "'Ghost in the Shell' follows the Major (Scarlett Johansson), special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic's advancements in cyber technology."
The movie is directed by Rupert Sanders ("Snow White and the Huntsman") and it will also star Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche and Pilou Asbæk. Japanese celebrities have also been cast in the movie like Kaoru Momoi and Takeshi "Beat" Kitano.
Details about the movie are scarce for now but more information is expected to be released as time passes. "Ghost in the Shell" is set for release on March 31, 2017.
