"Girl Meets World" promo still | Disney XD

Fans of "Girl Meets World" had suddenly been shaken by the news that the Disney XD show has already been canceled. Now, writers of the series are speaking up to clarify the rumors giving viewers some glimmer of hope that Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her gang will live past season 3.

On June 2014, Disney XD started rolling out "Girl Meets World," which tackles the story of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga's (Danielle Fishel) daughter, Riley, and how she goes about tackling typical teen dilemmas.

Now, amid cancellation rumors, the folks behind the series took it to their collective social media account to explain what exactly is happening behind closed doors in terms of the coming-of-age sitcom. In a series of tweets coming from the user Girl Meets Writers, with the Twitter handle @GMWWriters, it was clarified that everything is still up in the air for a potential fourth season of the series. They also took a playful jab at Rider Strong who initially tipped off that they have secretly wrapped up "Girl Meets World" while visiting "Literary Disco."

"As much as I love Shawn Hunter, having created his character and everything, you have to remember that he was wrong a lot," the start of the tweet thread said referring to Strong's character in the show. "There is no official word as yet. Disney decision on season 4 coming soon. Officially, season 3 ends with 3 wonderful episodes in January."

Unfortunately, given the situation, the writers cannot give any concrete detail or timeline as to when official news of a renewal or cancellation will be issued. But they are adamant that if anything, they have been nothing but thankful to tell the story of the "Boy Meets World" spinoff

"Whatever happens, it has been a great joy to get to continue this story," the account added. "If it is over, thank you. If not, we will keep giving our best."

As previously mentioned, "Girl Meets World" is slated to come back next month for new episodes for season 3. The show went on a short winter hiatus but has already lined up three weekly consecutive episodes starting Jan. 6 on Disney XD.
