'Girl Meets World' season 4: renewal still up in the air; writers promise 'best' season 3 episodes coming

There remains no news about "Girl Meets World" season 4, but the writers continue to tease fans on what to expect in the final episodes of the current season.

Fans of Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and company will welcome the coming year with the gang with "World Meets Girl."

The writers describe this "Girl Meets World" season 3 episode, which will serve as the show's 2017 opener, as "a one hour thank you note from us to you."

They added that this installment is dedicated to viewers and is even something to "welcome" them to the show, which is why it is titled that way.

The writers also teased that what to expect in the episodes that will follow. "Happy New Year to all of you as we meet a changing world. We start off 2017 with three of our best episodes. Please join us," they tweeted.

Following "World Meets Girl" is "Girl Meets Sweet 16," which is looking to be a celebration of Riley's birthday. The "Girl Meets World" season 3 finale will be "Girl Meets Goodbye."

Should "Girl Meets World" season 4 fail to happen, it looks like the show will end on a high note and fans will be satisfied when it ends.

As for a renewal, the cast and crew are still awaiting word from Disney. This was revealed by Carpenter in an interview with Teen.com.

"No, we do not [have an update]. We have been so lucky to work on the show for the past three years and we don't know what's happening yet," the actress said.

"But we've got amazing new episodes that are still airing and everyone so far has liked them so we're really lucky," she went on to say.

Her co-stars Blanchard, August Maturo and Cheryl Texiera campaigned using their social media for a "Girl Meets World" season 4 renewal.

The stars simply hope for a chance to spend another year with the family that formed while working together on the show. They also believe that there are more lessons to teach and more stories to tell.

Whether or not this is the case on Disney's side, fans will just have to wait and see for now.

"Girl Meets World" season 3 returns with "World Meets Girl" on Friday, Jan. 6, on Disney Channel.
