'Girl Meets World' season 4 renewal news update: more cast members rally to save show as Disney keeps up its silence
The renewal of "Girl Meets World" for season 4 remains up in the air, which is why it is up to the cast and the fans of the show to make sure it lives to see another year.
Rowan Blanchard started it all and her co-star Cheryl Texiera followed suit by penning a heartfelt letter to Disney Channel about why "Girl Meets World" season 4 deserves to happen.
Texiera played the character of Katy Hart, Maya's (Sabrina Carpenter) mother for two years and a half. As she revealed in the letter, she had pleasure in doing so.
"Something that has stood out to me every time I walked on set — or wrapped an episode— was the camaraderie of not just the cast, but the cast, crew, writers, producers, wardrobe, hair, [and] make-up — and perhaps most impressively, our fans," Texiera wrote.
"This show is about family — it's about friends — it's an honest coming of age tale that needs to be told. Especially in today's market," she went on to say. [Read the letter in full below.]
Recently, August Maturo also spent time on social media to save the show from cancellation. The efforts of the cast members fuel fans to fight for the show's rescue as well. The "Girl Meets World" season 4 renewal is something that fans, as well as the cast and crew of the show, have been waiting for from Disney since the season 3 production wrapped in July. The "Boy Meets World" spinoff will be back with its last three episodes in January next year. Despite this, Disney remains silent about the show's fate. When asked back in July, a Disney representative said that it was too early to talk about "Girl Meets World" season 4 with episodes up to 2017. "Girl Meets World" season 3 has been in several hiatuses. Without these gaps, the current season could have ended by now. The long breaks have many believing that Disney is buying time or at least buying time for the series. At the moment, "Girl Meets World" season 4 appears to be impossible. Disney should break its silence soon, but the cast members' campaigning suggests the show really is in trouble. But for now, fans will have to wait for a whole month to watch the next episode, "World Meets Girl."
