Last week, news broke out that "Girl Meets World" will wrap up once the finale for season 3 ends. The announcement was disclaimed by the writers of the show although they did not confirm that another installment of the series has already been ordered. Now, just a couple of days after, it is already official that the "Boy Meets World" spinoff has already been canceled.

Ironically, the same Twitter account collectively owned by the writers of the show was also the one who delivered the news via a series of tweets published Wednesday night. And while the teen show is already ending, the folks behind the production are confident that they were able to hone farewell episodes fitting for Riley and her friends.

"It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over," the statement read. "I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes. We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn't be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty — we gave you our best."

Fans of the show have long been buzzing about the fact that the spinoff sequel is airing on Disney XD, which obviously poses some content restrictions. Given that "Girl Meets World" treads a coming-of-age narrative, some sensitive matters that may be too much for the target demographics of the cable network hinders the overall flow and relatability of its story. Now that the show is officially axed in its original broadcast station, some viewers are petitioning for other platforms to adopt it like Freeform which could be a more suitable fit for the kind of stories it wants to tell.

Meanwhile, as all of the details past season 3 for "Girl Meets World" are still in limbo, fans of the show still have a couple more episodes left to enjoy before the series wraps up in Disney XD. The winter premiere has already aired last Jan. 6 with two more installments left airing in the succeeding Fridays.
