The name of Kratos' son in Sony's upcoming video game "God of War" has recently been revealed to the gaming community.

When Sony Santa Monica released a downloadable version of Bear McCreary's E3 Overture music (which can be downloaded here), a fan shared on Twitter that he noticed a little detail in the mp3 comments tag which read, "An introduction to Kratos and Atreus," thereby incidentally revealing the name of Kratos' son and sidekick.

Not long after, "God of War" director Cory Barlog confirmed the character's name in a Twitter post, crediting the fan for making the discovery on his own.

It can be recalled that Sony announced the new "God of War" game at E3 2016, with its trailer raking in over 15 million views. Barlog also confirmed that the upcoming game will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive and will be a single-player only experience. The highly-awaited game will not serve as Kratos' last appearance.

The E3 trailer release provided a complete look at the title's gameplay as well as a teaser of the game's storyline. This led to even greater questions about Kratos, his current environment, and his special bond with his son, Atreus.

According to GameRant, it is possible that Atreus' name, which is Greek in origin, could hold secrets related to Kratos' past. The boy and his name could be factors that come into play in the video game, with the title's use of Norse mythology possibly intertwining with Greek lore.

"God of War" is still in development, but it is moving forward according to the established schedule. Recently, it was revealed that the "whole game" could be played from start to finish. Hence, aside from the recent discovery involving Atreus, more details are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks and months.

No official release date has been announced yet for the highly-anticipated "God of War."
