'God of War' release date, news, rumors: Appearance at PSX 2016 expected? Kratos to wield Mjolnir hammer
There are only a few weeks left for 2016 and the "God of War" fans are wanting to know more about the game franchise's upcoming installment. The only gaming event left for this year is the upcoming PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2016 this December, and the fans are anticipating that Santa Monica Studio, the successful game developer company behind the "God of War" series, will be in the event to reveal more details.
Unfortunately, it seems like the fans will not get any fresh "God of War" information, until the end of the year. Santa Monica Studio is no longer expected to be a part of the PSX 2016 participants. "God of War" director Cory Balrog recently tweeted that while he himself will be at the event to participate in some activities, there will be no "God of War" details to be given during the PSX 2016.
Moreover, Balrog revealed that Santa Monica Studio will not be releasing any more game demos for "God of War," at least until the end of this year. He said that the team currently working on the upcoming video game are still busy improving its contents, so they do not have the time at the moment to create more demo videos.
Balrog also revealed via Forbes that the upcoming "God of War" title is only expected to playable in the PlayStation 4 console, even with the enhanced PlayStation 4 Pro already released this year. It is reported that the players can get the full gaming action experience without the new features of the PS4 Pro.
"God of War" is expected to be released sometime in 2017, but there is still no confirmed exact date for it. However, an Amazon listing reveals the pre-order price of the game at $59.99, as well as the release date specified to be on Dec. 29, 2017. It should also be noted, however, that this might only be a placeholder date that can be adjusted once the game is finally confirmed.
As reported by Game N Guide, Balrog said that there is still no definite release date for "God of War" as the game studio is still focused on the ongoing production stage of the game.
Meanwhile, Gaming Bolt reported some of the new things that the fans should look forward to in "God of War." It was teased that the game's lead hero, Kratos, will find himself in the possession of the powerful Mjolnir hammer as his ultimate weapon. To recall, the previous "God of War" installment featured the Sword of Olympus as Kratos' ultimate weapon.
