Golden State Warriors trade rumors: Curry plans to stay after free agency
Heading to his eighth season in the league, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors already has a resume that could ensure him a spot as one of the best players in the game.
Already a National Basketball Association (NBA) champion, Curry is also a two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) and a three-time All-Star.
Last year, he helped set a league record with the Warriors holding the best record in the league at 73–9. Unfortunately, they fell short of a championship as they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games.
However, it appears that the star guard is not looking to go elsewhere, as reports have claimed that Curry is looking to re-sign with the Warriors when he hits free agency. This comes as no surprise to most as Curry has enjoyed some of the best basketball with the team.
Curry is heading into the last year of his contract and is set to earn around $12.1 million.
That is a bargain given that he averaged 30.1 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. Even more impressive is he shot around 45 percent from beyond the arc.
The stats that Curry displays warrants him a monstrous deal when he is due, but Curry's demeanor does not look to be one who decides based on money.
With the way the team is built at the moment, particularly with the arrival of Kevin Durant in the lineup, then there is absolutely no reason for the star guard to leave the Bay Area.
If there should be a point of discussion, then it would be the redemption that Curry and the Warriors are looking for after the disappointing end to the season last year.
