Golden State Warriors trade rumors 2016: Linked with Allen once more

The rumor mill has reignited talks that the Golden State Warriors are likely to be the destination of Ray Allen.

If reports are to be believed, the Warriors and Allen are possibly going to link up as the veteran wants to play for a contender that will use his services.

The Warriors are coming off a devastating season where they fell short of winning back-to-back titles against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Before that, they were on a historic run, winning 73 out of 82 regular season games to beat the previous record, but it ultimately was for nothing as the Cavaliers rebounded from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Warriors.

Now, Golden State made a splash in the summer, acquiring the top free agent in Kevin Durant from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now, they have a big four of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Durant, but they can add another sharpshooter if Allen joins the group.

This link has already been reported, and it was stated that the Warriors will not need to shell out a lot to get Allen as a $1.5 million veteran minimum contract is all they need to acquire the star.

Add the fact that they do not have much of a budget left after acquiring Durant, the Warriors may resort in getting trusted veterans to help them off the bench.

Furthermore, Sports Rageous believes that Allen will only come back for a title challenger team and one who can give him some minutes — something the Warriors can give the former Boston Celtic star.

Now 41 years old, Allen has not played since the end of the 2013–14 season when he was with the Miami Heat.

In his career, he averages 18.9 points per game and shoots 45 percent from beyond the arc.

He is a 10-time NBA All-Star and has won two NBA championships — in 2007–08 with the Celtics and in 2012–13 with the Miami Heat.
