The Google Nexus 9 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 aren't far apart in terms of size and specs, and both are squarely placed in the tablet category.
Design
The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and the Nexus 9 both have plastic bodies. However, the Nexus 9 has a brushed metal rim around its edge and a plastic back while the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has dimples on its back panel. As for size, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is wider and thicker than the Nexus 6 and is even heavier weighing 465 grams compared to the 425 grams of its competitor. The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 also has a fingerprint sensor which the Nexus 9 does not have.
Display
The Nexus 9 has an 8.9-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and a density of 281 pixels per inch. As for the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, it has a much larger super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a density of 288 pixels per inch.
Specs
The Nexus 9 has an Nvidia Tegra K1chipset, coupled with a dual-core 2.3 GHz Denver CPU and Kepler DX1GPU. It is powered by the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset, coupled with a quad-core Cortex-A15 clocked at 1.9 GHz and a quad-core Cortex-A7 clocked at 1.3 GHz and a Mali-T628 MP6 GPU.
Memory
The Nexus 9 does not have a memory slot, but the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has one which can used to add external storage of up to 128 GB. Comparing their RAM, the Nexus 9 has 2 GB while the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has 3 GB.
Price
The 16 GB WiFi version of the Nexus 6 is priced at $399 while the 16 GB Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is priced at $500.
