'Gotham City Sirens' premiere date, news: Deadshot to appear in film? Catwoman, Poison Ivy actresses still yet to be cast

David Ayer has been tapped to direct a new DC film based on the comic series of the same title, "Gotham City Sirens." Margot Robbie will be returning as Harley Quinn in the film, while Will Smith may also appear as Deadshot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ayer will be directing the upcoming "Gotham City Sirens" that will see the return of Robbie as Harley Quinn. Robbie will also be producing the title wherein she portrays Quinn as the leader of the all female villain trio known as the Gotham City Sirens. Quinn will be taking over Gotham City with Poison Ivy and Catwoman, but no actresses have been tagged to play either role yet.

Meanwhile, Will Smith expressed his eagerness to appear alongside Robbie in "Gotham City Sirens" as his "Suicide Squad" persona, Deadshot.

In an interview with MTV International, Smith said, "I'd definitely love to be in it. I love Margot Robbie, I would do, like, anything she wants to do."

Since the two characters appeared to have a special bond in "Suicide Squad," it is possible that Ayer will bring their relationship over to "Gotham City Sirens."

While there are still no other cast members aside from Robbie, BossLogic creator took to Twitter, suggesting which actresses would pass as Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

BossLogic posted a photo of Eliza Dushku as Catwoman, stating that the actress has "Always been badass from way back in the 'Buffy' days."

The artist then posted a villainous photo of Emma Stone as Poison Ivy. Although the photos show Dushku and Stone as perfect matches to the characters, there is no certainty that Ayer and his team will cast the two actresses to match with Robbie in the film.

"Tomb Raider" reboot and "Sherlock Holmes 3" screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet will be writing the film, with Geoff Johns and Jon Berg from DC films co-producing.

"Gotham City Sirens" is still under development.
