'Gotham' season 3 air date and news: New trailer gives audience a look at the Mad Hatter
The third season of "Gotham" just keeps rolling out the classic villains and this season has fans meeting the Mad Hatter aka Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel). A new synopsis has been released for the next episode titled "Look into My Eyes," and it also comes with a promo video.
The video has Samuel playing the Hatter and he does a voiceover of what looks to be a hypnotism routine. The synopsis says that Jervis Tetch arrives in Gotham City to look for his sister Alice (played by Naian Gonzalez Norvind). He hires Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to find her.
In other news, the Penguin (Robin Taylor) has also decided to run for mayor. Bruce's (David Mazouz) doppelganger causes trouble for the orphaned millionaire and the city gets all the more confused.
Subtitled "Mad City," the episode only makes fans suspect that the Mad Hatter would make his debut appearance in the show. Samuel's appearance confirms that but some fans are still puzzled.
Mad Hatter isn't a hypnotist in the comics but a gifted technician. He specializes in creating mind control tech that he would conceal in hats his victims wear. It's also noteworthy to mention that he has an obsession with Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland." This is why he takes his criminal alias from the book's character.
With the Mad Hatter being a hypnotist in the show, the producers obviously went in another direction with the character; but then again, he could be using some form of concealed tech that would make his hypnotism believable. There's also a chance that his missing sister Alice could be his own form of delusion.
Some fans are saying that the third season of "Gotham" is off to an impressive start and the audience can't wait to see just how low Gotham sinks before the Dark Knight swoops in to save it.
The next episode of "Gotham" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
