'Gotham' season 3 episode 11 spoilers: Mad virus infects Gotham in midseason finale; James Remar to join cast in 2017
"Gotham" hits its midseason finale next week and the titular mad city is about to get even madder.
In the episode titled "Beware the Green-Eyed Monster," everybody has a bone to pick with everybody else and one grand wedding is at risk of getting cancelled. It doesn't help that the mad virus created from Alice Tetch's (Naian Gonzalez Norvind) blood starts spreading throughout the city just when the laboratory that's hard at work in developing a cure gets compromised.
In the previous episode, the virus claimed its first victim since Gotham City Police Department's (GCPD) former captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) became an unwilling victim to its mind-altering influence. The usually level-headed Mario Falcone (James Carpinello) has become a force of violence and it is up to Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to either find a cure for him or come up with a plan to stop his former fiancée Lee Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) from marrying Mario in his current state.
Elsewhere, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) puts her revenge plot in motion by pitting her two enemies against each other. How will Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) react when he finds out the truth about his friend Oswald Cobblepot's (Robin Lord Taylor) true feelings for him, especially when he figures out the truth about his girlfriend's death?
The episode trailer only hints of dire things to come. Whose vengeance is served right and which ones end up going sideways? Does Bruce Wayne's (David Mazouz) plans against the Court of Owls put him and Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) in the crossfire?
Meanwhile, it has been announced that "Dexter" alum James Remar will be joining the cast in the recurring role of Jim's estranged uncle, Frank Gordon, next year. The official character description teased that Frank will be coming to Gotham to reconnect with Jim, but that he may be harboring a dark secret that threatens to bring more conflict in Jim's life. He may have to make a choice between standing by his family and saving his city.
"Gotham" season 3 episode 11 airs on Monday, Nov. 28, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX. The series is scheduled to return for its back half episodes in spring 2017.
