Ivy Pepper/Poison Ivy (Maggie Geha) may be undergoing a major transformation in "Gotham" season 3, but the show's cast members now say that this doesn't necessarily mean that she will become a love interest for the series' teenaged Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).

In June, it was announced that Geha is replacing 14-year-old actress Clare Foley as the show's Ivy Pepper. In "Gotham" season 3, Ivy, the child who was portrayed by Foley, will be reborn as a young adult (Geha) who has discovered the power of her charms.

Following the announcement of Ivy Pepper's recasting, fans of the crime/police procedural series were left wondering if the character's growth was fast-tracked so that she could be paired with Bruce Wayne.

In a recent interview with IGN, Mazouz clarified that while Ivy and Bruce will indeed have a relationship, it will not be a romantic one.

"They're definitely going to have a relationship with each other," he said. "It's not going to be a romantic one, necessarily. It's going to be more of a sister figure to him."

Nonetheless, the actor said that the pair will have major influences on each other's lives and that Ivy will play a critical role in Bruce's story, especially towards the middle of season 6.

In the same interview, Geha spoke about what's ahead for Ivy, saying that viewers won't probably see the character turning into Poison Ivy just yet. According to the actress, Ivy's story will focus on discovering how others see her.

"A lot of people are focused on her sexuality," Geha said. "I think Ivy, in my opinion, doesn't really feel sexual about anybody."

Meanwhile, speaking with TVLine, Jamie Chung, who was recently cast as Valerie Vale in the upcoming season of "Gotham," dished on the character's storyline in the Fox series.

"You find Valerie in the midst of it all asking the tough questions, trying to get to the core of the story," she revealed.

The actress also hinted at a possible romance between her character and Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon, saying, "Valerie quickly realizes the kind of danger one can experience when 'dating' Jim Gordon."

"Gotham" season 3 debuts on Monday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
