A "Dexter" alum is heading to Gotham City for the third season of Fox's hit crime drama "Gotham."

According to reports, veteran actor James Remar has joined the cast of "Gotham" in a recurring role as Jim Gordon's (Ben McKenzie) uncle, Frank Gordon. He hasn't communicated to Jim in 25 years, but he comes to Gotham to search for his nephew and reconnect.

Frank is a man who knows how to keep secrets and he is good at playing both sides. However, he harbors a dark secret that can ruin the very foundations of Jim's world and force him to decide between his family's safety and saving Gotham.

Remar is probably best known in recent years for his stellar role in "Dexter" as the titular character's father, Harry Morgan. His other notable acting credits include dual roles in the 2012 movie "Django Unchained" and recurring roles in "The Legend of Korra," "The Shannara Chronicles," "State of Affairs" and more. Remar will next be seen in "The Path," a drama series from Hului which premieres its second season in January 2017.

Meanwhile, next week's episode will see the virus quickly spread to Gotham. "As the virus begins to spread in Gotham, the laboratory that is developing a cure is compromised. Mario and Gordon face off before the wedding, Selina meets an unexpected face and Barbara comes to Nygma with information about Isabella," the synopsis from Comic Book reads.

In the promo, Jim appears to be pained as he watched the love of his life Lee (Morena Baccarin) get married to Mario. Aside from his personal problems, Jim is also busy trying to find out who is behind the attacks against Mario and why they are trying to kill him. Elsewhere, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) tells Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) that Mayor Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) is the mastermind behind the murder of Isabella (Chelsea Spack).

The third season of "Gotham" airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
