'Gotham' season 3 spoilers: trailer confirms Jerome's return from the grave
Someone will be back from the dead when the second half of "Gotham" season 3 returns early next year.
The teaser for the return of "Gotham" season 3 confirmed that Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) and his signature sinister laugh will be resurrected. But it did not reveal how the psychopath came back to life after being killed by Theo Galavan (James Frain) back in season 2.
It has been speculated since Jerome first appeared in "Gotham" season 1 that he could become Batman's greatest nemesis The Joker in the future because of his signature laugh. But new hints about the validity of the said rumors can be seen in the promo trailer, in which Jerome appears to have some scarring near his mouth that resembles the same scars that the Clown Prince of Crime is known for.
Meanwhile, the midseason finale of "Gotham" season 3 featured the return of Selina Kyle's (Camren Bicondova) mother, Maria (Ivana Milicevic). This could change the dynamics of Selina's relationship with Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) in the upcoming episodes of the season.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bicondova revealed that her character will be filled with confusion whenever she thinks about her connection with Bruce after the arrival of Maria. "She's not going to admit anything for a very long time, at least to herself," the actress stated. "Every single time something happens where you think it will bring Bruce and Selina closer, it actually shoots them thousands and thousands of miles away [from each other] emotionally. It's going to be intense."
Yet the actress did not reveal if Selina's mother will ask her to prevent the blossoming romance between her and Bruce in the upcoming episodes.
FOX has yet to announce the exact release date of the midseason premiere of "Gotham" season 3 in January 2017, but Comicbook.com revealed that actor Ben McKenzie will direct one of the upcoming episodes of the season.
