'Gotham' season 3 spoilers: Will a character from 'The Dark Knight' return?
The second half of "Gotham" season 3 may have a connection with the 2008 film "The Dark Knight," based on the introduction of a new cast member.
FOX will introduce actor David Dastmalchian as one of the guest stars in the upcoming episodes of "Gotham" season 3. The actor was known for portraying the role of Arkham Asylum patient and one of The Joker's most trusted friend Thomas Schiff in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Night" film.
Cinema Blend speculates that Dastmalchian could reprise his role from the "Batman" movie and bring it to the small screen since his introduction coincides with the episode titled "Ghost," in which Cameron Monaghan will return as Jerome Valeska in the series. Since fans believe that Jerome will turn into The Joker in the future, it might be possible to see Thomas reunite with his Arkham Asylum pal.
On the other hand, Monaghan teased about how Jerome would possibly return to the city in the second half of "Gotham" season 3 in an Instagram post.
In the photo, a portion of Jerome's beaten face was seen peeking under the white sheets that were being pulled by Arkham Asylum physician Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). But the actor did not reveal more details about how Jerome managed to stay alive all this time.
Executive producer John Stephens teased that Jerome will play a significant role in "Gotham" season 3. "You'll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he's going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist," Stephens told ComicBook.com. "Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we'll bring that back in a much bigger way and you'll see these different versions of the Joker myth," he continued.
FOX will air the midseason premiere of "Gotham" season 3 on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017.
