'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers: Jo's abusive husband to be introduced? stars tease Jackson and April's upcoming Montana trip
Someone from Jo's (Camilla Luddington) traumatizing past is coming back to her life when "Grey's Anatomy" returns for the back half of season 13.
Jo has had a difficult past because she was once a victim of an abusive relationship. Though she has already moved on, it seems that her abusive husband will soon be introduced in the series. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Luddington admitted that she hasn't heard plans to bring Jo's husband this season yet, but she believes his arrival is inevitable.
"I feel like it's this thunderstorm that's on its way," Luddington teased. "I imagine it'll happen at some point... I feel like he has to because it's Grey's Anatomy and that's what they do; we bring people back from your past who are unexpected. He's been the elephant in the room for a long time now, and I think it's time to meet him," the actress added.
Meanwhile, an upcoming episode this season will see a special trip featuring Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew). During Friday's Television Critics Association panel, Williams revealed that the said episode is centered on "Japril," and they'll be in a place where it's just the two of them. Jackson and April are heading to Montana, and they won't be coming back to the hospital right away. The actor hinted that it's a big treat for fans of the Grey Sloan duo, noting that the episode has a unique flair.
"It's just us, so if you're into JA-PRIL... you get what you asked for," Williams said. He went on to explain that the story's slow pacing lets viewers see "the silence and the pain and the love and the tension" while highlighting their journey as individuals. "It was such a gift," Drew gushed of the "Japril" episode. "I was really, really excited about it."
The 13th season of "Grey's Anatomy" returns on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
