News of its cancellation notwithstanding, it looks like "Grimm" season 6 is gearing up to be one of the best seasons, if not the best one, yet in its long history. It looks like the show will be going out with a huge bang.

One of its main cast members, Claire Coffee, who plays Adalind Schade, is too excited for the upcoming season, which is slated to premiere sometime in January 2017. There will only be 13 episodes for the sixth and final season of the show, but according to Coffee, fans will be treated to explosive episodes, one after the other. Moreover, Coffee shared that alliances will shift in the upcoming season.

"Alliances are shifting, for sure. I think the beginning of the season is incredibly intense. Usually, we take a season to work toward the insanity and that level of tension, but we're starting with it this season. It's not letting up. There's not a lot of breathing room so far," Coffee told Showbiz Junkies recently.

She also reveled in the fact that her character has been much a focal point of the past seasons, with her becoming integrated into Nick Burkhardt's (David Giuntoli) Scooby Gang. However, she hopes the series will end with Adalind still alive and breathing.

"You know, I would prefer her to stay alive. I would prefer to end the series alive. That would be my preference. Anything beyond that is just icing on the cake," she said.

Meanwhile, in an interview with EnStarz, Giuntoli said "Grimm" season 6 will pick up right where season 5 left off, with Nick and the Scooby Gang fighting for survival.

"It picks up the millisecond we left off; the micro-moment. We're all on the run," Giuntoli told EnStarz. "Renard Sasha Roiz] has the power right now so we're definitely a band on the run. We can't hang out in our normal haunts, either. We can't go to the precinct, we can't go to the loft, and we can't go to Monroe and Rosalee's place. We spend a lot of time in the rabbit warren, which are the tunnels."

Showrunners David Greenwalt and James Kouf have previously told TV Line that a time jump will not suffice since "there are too many unanswered moments to jump ahead."

In related news, the same outlet revealed that the upcoming season of "Grimm" will feature a Frankenstein episode. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether Frankenstein will be battling Nick or if he will be an ally.

"Grimm" season 6 is slated to drop on Jan. 6, 2017 on NBC.
