'Grimm' season 6 spoilers, updates: David Giuntoli directs episode; show's future uncertain
David Giuntoli, who leads the cast of NBC's "Grimm" as the show's eponymous character, is directing an episode of the police procedural fantasy drama's upcoming season 6.
The episode, which was the first one filmed for season 6, is reportedly the third episode in the new installment. Earlier this month, Giuntoli's co-star, Bitsie Tulloch, posted an on-set Instagram snap of the actor on his first day directing "Grimm."
"First day of filming @nbcgrimm Season 6!" the actress captioned the photo. "I don't start shooting until tomorrow but came to set to watch my man's first day directing. He's killing it!"
During the "Grimm" panel at last month's San Diego Comic-Con, it emerged that Giuntoli and Tulloch, who plays Julie/Eve in the series, are engaged.
Meanwhile, "Grimm" fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the show's future, with many fearing that it is approaching its conclusion.
The sixth season renewal was announced much later than expected, with the season order getting cut to just 13 episodes from the usual 22. Some have taken this as an indication that NBC is getting ready to ax the series.
Speaking with Oregon Live, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt spoke about a possible seventh season for "Grimm," saying, "We haven't decided that yet."
"We've just started production," he added. "We've ordered 13 episodes — we may order more," the chairman claimed.
"We're in the middle of all that right now," he said about the possibility of adding more episodes to season 6.
As for the new season's storyline, the cast of "Grimm" spoke to Entertainment Weekly at Comic-Con and previewed the upcoming tension between Nick and Renard (Sasha Roiz).
While Renard saved Nick at the end of season 5, the two won't be friends in the new season.
"We've read the first three scripts [of season 6]," Giuntoli said. "We're not friends in the first three scripts."
"There's no frenemies," "Grimm" actress Bree Turner, who plays Rosalee, said. "It's enemies."
"Renard kind of goes to the dark side quite a bit," Roiz explained.
"Grimm" is currently being filmed in Portland, Oregon.
NBC has yet to announce the official premiere date for "Grimm" season 6.
