'GTA 6' release date rumors: female lead, Vice City settings to be seen in the title; expected to come out in 2018
The success of "Grand Theft Auto 5" ("GTA 5") and "GTA Online" has been doing favors to both Rockstar Games and to the players. With its huge number of players, the game studio has been reaping great profits while the players have been keeping themselves entertained with the titles' gameplay.
Despite the continuous update of both titles, fans are still looking forward to the release of "GTA 6." In fact, there are numerous rumors regarding the title, including its location, main protagonist and overall gameplay.
As of this time, there is no concrete information about the game and Rockstar Games is still being quiet about it. The studio is still focused on the development of "Red Dead Redemption 2," which is also one of the most anticipated title.
One of the most talked-about rumors about "GTA 6" is its female protagonist. This has been hinted by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser when he stated an idea of having a female character in the game. He said:
"In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course. We just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things that we always think about."
As for the location, players have been debating whether "GTA 6" will finally be located outside the United States, or still be set in the country. A former Rockstar boss also hinted that the imminent game may revisit Vice City. She said:
"It is always a possibility. There are a few references to the city in our current-gen GTAs so it is part of that HD universe, and it is certainly somewhere we would love to revisit. However 'Vice City,' perhaps more than any other GTA game, was as much about the era as the setting."
Nevertheless, "GTA 6" is a sure-fire hit with its huge fan base having already gathered and poised to play the title once it comes out. The game is slated to be released in 2018.
