'GTA 6' release date, rumors: 'GTA 5' sequel getting a revamped Vice City map, VR support?
Although Rockstar Games is busy with "Grand Theft Auto 5" ("GTA 5"), particularly its multiplayer mode, that does not mean the company does not have "GTA 6" on its mind.
According to the latest reports, the developer could be looking into adding virtual reality (VR) support for the next installment of its hit open-world adventure game.
VR is, of course, the next big thing in gaming and it would be surprising if Rockstar did not take a crack at it. After all, it will introduce a lot of exciting features that the developer can utilize on "GTA 6."
Needless to say, along with it come risks. The finances it will require will be bigger than ever, but in the name of improvement, Rockstar might not even second-guess integrating VR support into the highly anticipated game.
Additionally, "GTA" being one of the biggest and most successful franchises it ever produced, Rockstar might not want to be behind the times and neither do its fans.
"GTA" was and is still a very lucrative video game series for Rockstar as well and VR could boost its success further. Whether the developer will go for it for the "GTA 6" or not remains to be seen.
There are tons of rumors involving "GTA 6." A GTA Forums user who provided accurate information on the release of the Bikers downloadable content (DLC) claims that the game will be out by 2020.
Rockstar is apparently busy with a bunch of upcoming DLCs for "GTA 5" including a couple of online map expansions the size of a full game.
The same tipster said that "GTA 6" will feature a revamped version of Vice City from the 2002 game "GTA Vice City," which is one of the most loved installments in the series.
However, right now, it appears that the abovementioned "GTA 5" DLCs are the focus of Rockstar at the moment.
