'GTA 6' release date rumors: 'GTA 5' sequel not coming anytime soon
"Grand Theft Auto 6" is already the talk of the town even though Rockstar Games is nowhere near done with the current installment in the hit franchise, which is "GTA 5."
However, it appears that it might be a while before gamers get their hands on the new iteration of the open world action-adventure video game.
It was revealed in a recent earnings call that "GTA 5" shipped 70 million copies by the second fiscal year of Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
Rockstar has continually supported the online mode of the game and it appears that it won't stop anytime soon as more downloadable content (DLC) is coming so "GTA 6" might not exactly be the focus at the moment.
A tipster on the GTA Forums, whose claim on the release of the "Bikers" expansion ended up being true, claims that there will be tons more DLCs and that the final two will be the size of a full-on game as they will add brand new large locations.
He said that "GTA 6" will likely be released 2020 "at the very earliest" and that it will feature a new and improved Vice City, which was the focal point of the beloved 2002 game "GTA: Vice City."
It is unclear at the moment if work is being done on the "GTA 6" already, but it is certain it will be a while before it gets here anyway.
Before the two "GTA 5" online map expansions arrive, the GTA Forums tipster also stated that there will be three more DLC set for release first.
Although it is looking like "GTA 6" will take a while before it hits the market, iDigital Times says that fans will not have to worry on Rockstar's priorities.
The publication says that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will not affect the release timing of "GTA 6" as the respective games are being handled by two different divisions under Rockstar.
