Marvel's pipeline for the year has already been set and while fans still have almost half a year to get a glimpse of the company's first offering of the year, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, shares that the movie will be worth the wait.

In a guesting stint at SiriusXM for "The Jess Cagle Interview" (via Entertainment Weekly) the actor was almost too paranoid to speak about the film dreading the possibility that he might give away some spoilers. That being said, Pratt was confident enough to stress that upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel is a notch higher than its predecessor. And fans know that it is a tall order to say given how successful the origins story of the rag-tag team was.

"I almost don't want to say anything," Pratt started. "I know that there's enough interest for people to go out and see this movie ... All you need to know is I cried when I read the script. It's really, really fun, but there's also some genuine, deep emotion that you get to see in this movie. And James Gunn, thank God for James Gunn."

The emotional gravitas of the film may be rooted toward Peter Quill's hunt for his dad who turns out to be Ego, the living planet in which humanoid form will be played by Kurt Russel. It can be remembered that Star-Lord's lineage has been one of the main mysteries that the character has posed in the debut film and has since then been teased until the sequel has been confirmed to be coming. Furthermore, family will also be an integral theme as the band of extraterrestrial misfits would have had a more bonded relationship when "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" picks up.

Pratt is not shy in showering James Gunn with compliments, especially since he was really the main mover of the project. The actor points out that not only did Gunn direct the first "Guardians of the Galaxy," which became a major hit, he also penned the script for it. At this point, the confidence level that Marvel has bestowed upon him is in an all-time high, that is why he is tapped to both helm and once again write the sequel to the 2014 space adventure.

"James Gunn is the auteur," Pratt declared. "He's the man behind Guardians of the Galaxy. He wrote the movie, he directed the movie ... The first one and the second one. So this is completely his vision. In my opinion, there is no equal in Hollywood. I think he is the best I've worked for, and with. And I owe so much to him. Really. And, it's him."

In hindsight, the project went up against a lot of odds, especially with the peculiar premise of bringing superheroes in the cosmic realm. It was the first film from the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe to be majorly set in the universe complete with spaceships and aliens. But it grossed out over $770 million dollars and have fans clamoring for more dance battles.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is set to debut in cinemas on May 5.
