With the superhero-filled year in cinemas now officially closed with the release of Benedict Cumberbatch's debut as Doctor Strange earlier last month, all eyes are now set for what 2017 will bring in the strong genre. While the turn of the year will offer other great titles as early as March, Marvel Studios is looking to officially open their gates once again by summer in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

Months as it may still be until fans get to reunite with the beloved band of extraterrestrial misfits trying to save the cosmos, a lot of buzz have already been surrounding the movie. For starters, the cast came out with guns blazing in this year's San Diego Comic-Con followed by the release of the first teaser clip for the film. In both scenarios, one familiar but not necessarily an official member of the Star-Lord squad, yet has been gaining interest for his seeming change of ways, is Yondu.

Yondu is brought to life by actor Michael Rooker who recently caught up with Comicbook.com during the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Atlanta, and he talked a bit about his new role in the upcoming James Gunn film.

"I'm just as blue as before, and I have a great mohawk," he good-naturedly said referring to a tweak in his hairdo as seen more closely in the poster for the film. "I love the new look. The new mohawk is fabulous."

However, while Yondu is now expected to be one of the good guys instead of just the Ravager who only cares about scoring big, Rooker shares that a little bit of his character will still be as wise and suave as before. "There's always a little grey area," he teased, "and grey area is fun to do too." This reveal only makes up for interesting dynamics between Yondu and the rest of Guardians with the former still teetering to go back to his old, selfish ways.

A lot of eyes are already on the lookout for more details regarding "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" as it treads on a more personal story for Peter Quill looking for his real father who turns out to be Ego (Kurt Russel). This, in turn, will also make more sense of the reveal that there will be no Infinity Stone lurking in the film; instead, it will be more of a grounded narrative. That being said, rumors of the sequel's link to "Thor: Ragnarok," which is highly tipped to be where the last gem will surface could potentially tie everything together in preparation for the events of "Avengers: Infinity War."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" hits theaters on May 5 while "Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to come out a couple months later on Nov. 3. "Avengers: Infinity War" will roll out May 4, 2018.
