'Half-Life 3' latest news and update: 'Half-Life 2' nominated on Steam Awards; 'Half-Life 3' on the way?
"Half-Life" players are making sure that their voices are heard as they have just nominated "Half-Life 2: Episode 2" in the Steam Awards. However, it is not just "Half-Life 2" that they want as "Hal-Life 3' is also seen as one of the most requested titles.
Players took it to Reddit to post their views about "Half-Life" and the many expectations that they hope to be fulfilled. One player posted that "Half-Life" should be given a sequel and hundreds of other players agreed with him. In an article by Gaming Bolt, the response of "Half-Life" players is so overwhelming that a rumor emerged claiming that Valve may possibly hear the fans out, according to Gaming Bolt.
The title category has earned more than 6,400 players and it is still increasing as of this time. This may imply that gamers are very determined to see a "Half-Life 3" in the works.
However, Valve has yet to answer to the fans' requests. It could be remembered that the company co-founder Gabe Newell already gave hints about the possibility of "Half-Life 3." In an interview with Washington Post, the company boss said that "adaptable human resources" has to be considered as the gaming world is changing constantly.
Newell did not mention anything about "Half-Life 3," or a major update to "Half-Life 2," but it is believed that the franchise may be considered for a major revamp, probably by expanding the storyline or having a different gaming experience.
No one can deny that the gaming world is gradually shifting to virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) games, in which existing and upcoming titles already have support for such technology. Newell's statement may imply that the company is exploring new ways to make "Half-Life 3" on par with the recent innovations.
Currently, Newell is still focusing on the development of "Left 4 Dead," which means that "Half-Life 3" will not happen in the near future. However, it does mean that the title will not be a possibility.
