It has been a while since Valve released the latest installment in the highly successful "Half-Life" game franchise. With this, the fans are wondering if the follow-up game after "Half-Life 2" will be released in the next few years. So far, Valve has not yet announced any plans to do another "Half-Life" sequel, although the latest rumors are hinting of a surprise "Half-Life 3" in the near future. The interesting part is that "Half-Life 3" is expected to go even bigger with updated gameplay features and a possible virtual reality (VR) gaming support.

As reported by Cinema Blend, it is possible that Valve will decide to include VR features for the next "Half-Life" title. A lot of improvements in gaming technology have happened over the past several years, and if the "Half-Life" series was to make a huge comeback in the coming years, these improvements are likely to be included in it. Virtual reality gaming has been a current trend among today's popular game titles, and it is possible that "Half-Life 3" will go along with this trend as well.

The reported partnership of Valve with HTC earlier this year also raised the rumor that the VR feature in "Half-Life 3" is indeed happening. HTC has revealed their high-end virtual reality headset called the HTC Vive, which is compatible with some game titles today. It is rumored that a part of the HTC and Valve partnership is to make the next "Half-Life" installment compatible in HTC Vive's virtual reality format. However, Valve already downplayed the rumor about the HTC partnership for "Half-Life 3."

Valve has also denied earlier that they are currently working on the next phase of the "Half-Life" series, so it may be impossible for the fans to expect a new game coming up anytime soon. Still, "Half-Life" fans remain hopeful that Valve will announce the new sequel in the near future. After all, the public clamor for a new "Half-Life" remains very strong in spite of the fresh game titles appearing today.
