'Half-Life 3' release date news: VR-ready title to come out in 2018?

"Half-Life 3" has become one of the favorite topics of discussions all over the Internet. Its rumored development has been surrounded with speculations and contradicting reports. Despite the hype, game developer Valve Corporation has continued to stay mum about the idea of the video game series' third installment. Nonetheless, new reports are making people to believe that "Half Life 3" is still going to happen anytime soon.

According to reports, Valve Corporation is currently busy working on other projects. However, it is speculated that the company will soon work on the development of "Half-Life 3." According to industry experts, the third title of the series will arrive in 2018, just in time for the game's 20th anniversary.

If rumors prove to be true, Valve should start with the production late this year or in 2017, giving it over a year of work before its release in 2018.

Previous rumors suggested that Valve could be planning on bringing the VR technology into the third game. The rising interest from new gamers on virtual reality or VR is making game developers to include VR version in producing future titles. A VR version of the first-person shooter video game, "Half Life," is definitely going to give players great way to experience the third installment.

Meanwhile, during an interview with HTC Vive, Valve's software developer Ken Birdwell gave his thoughts about the whole "Half Life" VR rumors.

"We're still in that mode of trying to figure out what we do with this. We have endless experiments, and they're neat things, but we still have to figure out how we put this into a narrative," Birdwell said. "How do we pull the player through this immersion? If players actually did all of the actions from Half-Life in VR, they'd be fatigued in five minutes. It doesn't mean we can't use that fiction; we just have to figure out a new way to approach it."

As of the moment, no concrete details have been provided by the company with regard to "Half Life 3." Nonetheless, fans and critics are still positive that a third installment will come out anytime soon.
