'Halo 5: Guardians' DLC release date news 2016: Monitor's Bounty update goes live; new expansion features new Warzone maps and weapons
The Monitor's Bounty update for "Halo 5: Guardians" is now out, and a gameplay trailer featuring the new DLC has been released.
343 Industries announced the free expansion pack last Thursday, along with a brief footage detailing new weapons and features. The DLC is called "Monitor's Bounty," and it includes more weapons and Warzone maps for users to try. In addition, a custom game browser and an Observer mode, which offers tools for watching custom games, have been added.
In a blog post, UX design lead Vincent Hui mentioned that the custom game browser enables players to locate and be a part of in-progress custom games. Since the custom game browser is also heading to Windows PC, computer players can now access the entire Arena and Forge experience.
"This custom games browser is something the team has wanted to add for a long time for the community, but we needed the content browser and the search engine that powers it up and running first. Thanks for being patient, and we hope you enjoy it whether you're running Duck Hunt 24/7, or just looking for new friends to slay!" Hui said.
Everything in the new DLC is free, but paid content like the previously announced Voices of War Req update is also available. The said expansion pack costs $10 and features three new multiplayer announcers, including Yabda the Merciless, Exuberant Witness, as well as Edward Buck — who is voiced by "Castle" actor Nathan Fillion.
To date, "Halo 5: Guardians" already have nine expansion packs. Monitor's Bounty joins 2016's expansion packs, which include Infinity's Armory, Hammer Storm, Ghosts of Meridian, Memories of Reach, Hog Wild, and Warzone Firefight. Last year, Microsoft released two updates: The Battle of Shadow and Light and Cartographer's Gift.
Developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft Studios, "Halo 5: Guardians" is a first-person shooter video game available for Xbox One and Microsoft Windows PC.
