'Halo 5' Release Date, Xbox One Plot News: Two Trailers Released; Game Arrives on Xbox Oct. 27
Microsoft and 343 Industries finally announced on Sunday the release date of "Halo 5" in a TV ad that aired during the Season 5 finale of "The Walking Dead."
Two live-action ads showed that the fifth episode in the gaming franchise titled "Halo 5: Guardians" would arrive on the Xbox One on Oct. 27.
The Halo gaming franchise is without a doubt the biggest draw that Microsoft has when it comes to games. It has played a major part in the popularity of the Xbox One console which has slowly but surely started to emerge as a major competitor to the PS4. The latter, however, remains the number one console worldwide.
However, that could change when the next instalment of "Halo" arrives in October. Sony has had to delay the release of "Uncharted 4" which it originally planned to release this year.
News that 'Halo 5" had its release date set in stone was greeted with jubilation by fans who have made the game franchise one of the most profitable, earning Microsoft about $3.38 billion so far.
In addition to the two trailers, the official Twitter account for Xbox introduced a new hashtag -- #HUNTtheTRUTH – which the company plans to use in the months running up to its launch to promote the game.
AS for the game itself, the trailers revealed that Master Chief, the iconic hero in the games, will be retuning and will go up against Spartan Locke, a manhunter. The first trailer saw Locke threatening Master Chief who lay injured in the shadow of a statue built in his image and Locke accusing him of being a traitor.
However, their roles were reversed in the second trailer which saw Locke being threatened. Last year, it was revealed that "Halo 5" will continue after the events in the previous game that saw Master lose his AI companion Cortana.
