Hatchimals for Christmas 2016 latest news: Toys R Us to sell toy on Dec. 18

As Christmas Day nears, it becomes harder and harder for parents to get arguably one of the best toy presents, Hatchimals, under their family's Christmas tree.

Launched in the United States last October, Hatchimals, originally priced at about $60, have become such a hot commodity this holiday season. They sell so fast at stores like Walmart that it's getting more difficult and even more expensive to purchase just a single egg. Those who had the foresight to buy a lot of Hatchimals before the holiday rush are now re-selling their items at three to four times the original price.

To accommodate the demand, Spin Master even offered to sell 1,000 Hatchimals in their online store on Dec. 15. Even if each Hatchimal was bundled with a 1-year subscription to the Toca TV app and cost $99.89, all 1000 units of Hatchimals were sold very quickly. Hence, Hatchimals are now out of stock on the online store.

Since the previous Spin Master online sale was to be the last Hatchimals eggs sale before Christmas, customers will have to get their Hatchimal eggs by some other means. And if unlucky, some won't be getting the popular toy until after Christmas.

But all hope is not completely lost. According to CNBC, Toys R Us will be stocking its shelves with the latest shipment of Hatchimals on Sunday, Dec. 18, and will start selling the much-coveted toys at 6 a.m. for $79.99. Although their selling price is $20 more expensive than the suggested retail price, Toys R Us is still a cheaper alternative compared to the rates charged on online selling sites like eBay.

Interested buyers can also try their luck at Target or Walmart. Target sells the toy for $59.99, and the store will reportedly receive shipments throughout the holiday season and until the new year. Walmart, pricing the toy at $48.88, will also be getting more Hatchimals throughout December and into January.
