'Hawaii Five-0' season 7 episode 12 spoilers: Team rescues one of their own; will Chin survive?
The team must race against the clock to rescue Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) from the Mexican cartel before he is executed on the upcoming episode of "Hawaii Five-0" season 7.
Titled "Ka 'aelike (The Deal)," the show's midseason premiere will see Chin's life in serious danger after being kidnapped by a drug cartel in Mexico. According to the official synopsis, Five-0 must find and rescue Chin before he is killed by the notorious organization that's out for revenge. Elsewhere, Grover (Chi McBride) goes undercover as a car salesman to probe on a murder. When he starts working on the case, he quickly realizes that it's far more complicated and dangerous than expected.
The first half of season 7 left off with Chin making the ultimate sacrifice when he traded his well-being for that of his niece, Sara. She was kidnapped by a cartel in Mexico, but Chin thought it was too risky to confront the kidnappers, so he decided to offer himself on the condition that they release Sara.
Kim recently caught up with TV Line, and he mentioned how Chin's kidnapping lets viewers see a different side of him. "The fact that he was willing to lay down his own life for this girl says everything — and it's not a rash decision he made," the actor said. "He decided in a cool, calculated way that his life is worth the well-being of this child," he went on to say.
Kim also teased that the episode will explore how the team works together to bring Chin back home. Despite Chin's dangerous situation, the actor assured fans that his character's seemingly airtight situation will be resolved by the end of Friday's episode. "It is Five-0 at the end of the day, so this story will get wrapped up, because we need to go on with the show," Kim added. "There is a resolution."
The seventh season of "Hawaii Five-0" returns on Friday, Jan. 6, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
