While a normal life is still far beyond Carrie Mathison's reach, she would purportedly get married in the sixth installment of "Homeland."

The season 5 finale of the Showtime series was stirring at best. Carrie (Claire Danes) sat by Quinn's (Rupert Friend) hospital bed as she reads his letter, letting her know how much he loves her. He was brought to that state after jihadists captured him and exposed him to lethal gas.

It was touch and go, especially after the doctors told Carrie that her on-again/off-again lover might not recover fully from his condition. It was even insinuated during the final scene that Quinn could have died, although newer spoilers seem to suggest otherwise.

Carrie might be saddled with guilt after doubted Quinn's loyalty to her, thinking he wanted her dead. She eventually realized that he was protecting her all along. Will this realization make Carrie think twice about Otto During's (Sebastian Koch) offer?

When Carrie left the CIA, she got involved in an office for Muslim affairs. Her boss there, Otto During (Sebastian Koch), was always there for her during the times she was alone, and he eventually proposed to her. Unbeknownst to Carrie, Otto could have offered her marriage to get back at Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), Carrie's former boss in the CIA.

There are rumors that Carrie would accept Otto's proposal come season 6. Nevertheless, she could be in a mess if Quinn manages to survive his ordeal. Who would Carrie choose by then?

Meanwhile, two familiar faces have been tapped to play recurring roles in season 6 of "Homeland" just before filming officially starts in New York.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Patrick Sabongui, who appeared in "The Flash," would play the role of a CUNY law professor. As a devoted supporter of the Muslim-American community, he would be working closely with Carrie.

On the other hand, Hill Harper, who recently starred in "Limitless," would play U.S. president-elect Elizabeth Keane's (Elizabeth Marvel, "House of Cards") chief of staff.

There would be a short time jump from the season 5 finale to the season 6 premiere, during which time Carrie would be back on U.S. soil, working in a foundation offering aid to Muslims residing in the U.S., but she might be pulled back into CIA action when the new president is inaugurated.

"Homeland" season 6 would premiere sometime in January 2017 on Showtime.
