'Homeland' season 6 spoilers, news: Claire will soon have to answer Franny's questions about her dad

Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is back with another round of crime-busting narrative, this time, in her home soil, the United States. However, while "Homeland" is usually associated with political nodes, at the heart of it is the humanity of its characters. And the series is only looking to expound on that theme to the not-so-little Franny (alternately played by twins Claire and McKenna Keane).

With Carrie's daughter already at the age in which she is becoming curious at just about everything and not shy to ask, the toddler is expected to start querying about her dad. Obviously, Brody (Damian Lewis) is already dead and the manner in which he died is a tricky subject to explain to a four-year-old kid. And that is actually something that the folks behind "Homeland" want to delve into.

"One thing that surfaces this season is the question of who her father was," executive producer Chip Johannessen told TVLine in a recent conversation. "I actually just got done writing a scene for Episode 9 that serves as kind of a follow-up to a monologue [Carrie delivered to Frannie] in Season 4, in which she got her up to speed on who her father was," he added.

With Carrie still suffering from being emotionally unstable from time to time, fans are curious to see whether she would still have tendencies to do things that are just flat-out frustrating. It can be remembered that at one point the talented operative had thoughts about drowning Frannie. Johannessen assures everyone that there will be nothing like that, at least that superlative, moving forward as he admits that they received a decent amount of backlash for pursuing the potential murder.

"I wrote that [infamous Season 4] episode, but [the writing team] breaks all the stories together, and [the bathtub scene] was someone else's idea," he candidly shared. "I ended up getting a lot of flak for that," he continued.

Back in her native land, the sixth outing of "Homeland" sees the former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer now working at a foundation for Muslims who suffered domestic abuse. From then, she gets embroiled in national politics with a new president coming in and settling for the job. From then, the core theme of terrorism, this time more grounded, will play out all throughout the installment.

"Homeland" season 6 is scheduled to premiere on Showtime on Jan. 15 after the premiere episode was first previewed online earlier this month.
