'Homeland' season 6 spoilers news: Carrie's daughter to figure much in upcoming season? Claire Danes, Alex Gansa hold meeting with CIA
"Homeland" season 6 is currently in development, and there are talks that Carrie would undergo changes in the upcoming season. It also looks like her daughter Frannie would be playing a vital role in the sixth installment.
Time and again, viewers of "Homeland" have seen Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) struggling with her role as an agent for the CIA and as a mother to Frannie. It seems no matter how hard she tries to build a normal life for her and her child, something comes up that pulls her back into the CIA and fulfill her duties to her country.
In the upcoming sixth season of "Homeland," fans could expect to see more of Carrie's special talents, her struggle with bipolar disorder, and her daughter, whom according to TV Line would be a major recurring character.
The publication said Frannie would be four years old when the series returns in January. Set in New York, Frannie would most likely be interacting with the new environment and the people she and her mother would meet. The catch is casting is still ongoing for Frannie's role.
Previously, it was reported that Carrie would be hell bent in looking for that elusive inner peace. However, as duty to her country is her true calling, she would most likely be back with the CIA before she knows it.
Cinema Blend said that while Carrie would try to be as hands-on as possible with Frannie, the young girl would most probably spend much time with Carrie's sister especially if Carrie needs to solve cases or look for terrorists.
In related news, Danes and executive producer Alex Gansa recently traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with the CIA officials and intelligence officers to gather information they could use for the upcoming season. Apparently, this is something the production team does regularly when a new season is up.
Indie Wire reported that Danes, Gansa, Emmy-nominated director and EP Lesli Linka Glatter, and the writers trooped to D.C. this year for the meeting with CIA and stayed there for an "overwhelming" three days. Mandy Patinkin, who plays the CIA director in "Homeland," wasn't able to join the crew this year.
"It's always amazing because it sets the stage for what the season will be," Linka Glatter said of the meeting.
"It's three days — three marathon days," Danes added. "They're long, and they're dense. And they're fascinating! I leave feeling very dizzy and spooked."
For his part, Gansa said, "I cannot tell you how influential it is on the season."
How that meeting shapes up "Homeland" season 6 is something fans would see when the series returns sometime in January 2017.
