Since he started playing with the Houston Rockets in the 2012-13 season, James Harden has always been the team's best player.

He is a versatile scorer who can beat opponents in many different ways. He could be creative off the dribble or simply shoot over opponents from beyond the arc.

However, this coming season, it appears that Harden will take on more responsibilities in the team as he is going to be the Rockets' point guard.

As revealed by various reports, Harden will switch from being a shooting guard to the number one spot and handle the ball for the majority of the time.

Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni revealed his plan as he was talking to the media. In the interview, he said: "He's more or less responsible giving rhythm to the team, that's what a point guard does. He's going to be on the ball and he's going to be distributing the ball and it will take some adjusting. He's got a lot more responsibilities as a point guard. A playcaller, a good basketball mind, he's already telling guys we can do this we can do that."

This is definitely going to be a big task for the four-time all-star but Harden has always shown signs that he is capable of handling pressure.

In his career, Harden averages 4.9 assists per game. Last year he had a career high with 7.5 dimes per game along with 29.0 points per game.

Having Harden as the point guard will also help him manage the flow of the game to his liking, as most of the Rockets' offense will run through him beforehand.

Given that the Rockets are looking for a more up-tempo game, it is understandable for them to hand the ball to their best player so he can create his own shots immediately.

More responsibility will be on Harden this year as he looks to continue carrying the team on his shoulders. A new position may also be a new and perhaps better start for him.
