Houston Rockets trade rumors 2016: Rockets hoping Ryan Anderson will shine

Heading into his fourth team of his career in the National Basketball Association, Ryan Anderson is said to be poised for a big year with the Houston Rockets.

Now with eight seasons in the NBA under his belt, Today's Fast Break reported that they are expecting something good for Anderson with his move to Texas.

Prior to this, Anderson enjoyed four fruitful seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans. He was never the go-to guy for the Pelicans, but he has done enough that the Rockets offered him a four-year, $80 million deal.

While this may be a large amount, many believe that Anderson may be ready to step up and be one of the elite players in the game.

This is definitely the biggest pay day for Anderson, as he will net around $18.7 million this year, and it will eventually come up almost one million in the next years until the 2019-20 season.

Before this, he earned $8.5 million in his last year with the Pelicans.

At 28 years old, Anderson should be entering the peak of his powers. He played 66 total games with the Pelicans last year, averaging 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game while playing 30 minutes per game.

This was his best in his entire career, and he is entering the new season with an average of 13.1 points per game while shooting 42 percent from the field.

However, the biggest reason that the Rockets picked Anderson up is his excellent shooting from beyond the arc. He is a career 38 percent shooter from beyond the arc, and the Rockets will be relying on him to spread out the floor to help other stars like James Harden get to the basket.

After losing Dwight Howard, the Rockets are pinning their hopes that Anderson will work out with Harden in Texas and that they may come back to the playoffs as true contenders.
