Houston Rockets trade rumors: Rockets now concentrating on re-signing Motiejunas
With training camp nearing and the teams trying to complete their rosters, it appears the Houston Rockets are not looking to make any more big signings soon.
According to Ecumenical News, the Rockets may just try to add in some more veterans that can help motivate the team in the locker room and give some quality minutes when the new campaign comes.
Last year was a very daunting season for Houston. They had so many issues, and the pairing of Dwight Howard and James Harden did not work out.
Now, with Howard moving to the Atlanta Hawks, the Rockets may try and rebuild again, and they have a mixture of veteran players and young stars all backing Harden as they attempt to battle the Western Conference.
Houston picked up veterans Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, Pablo Prigioni, and Nenê to add depth to the team, and ESPN reported that there should not be any more big names to come to Texas this summer.
One of the things that the Rockets are concentrating on at the moment is whether they are going to be able to re-sign Donatas Motiejunas to a new contract.
The 25-year-old shooter is a restricted free agent but is also open to the possibility that other teams want his services.
In his first four years in the league, Motiejunas averaged 7.8 points per game. His minutes dropped significantly this season, only averaging less than 15 minutes per game which has resulted in a drop in his productivity.
Prior to last year, "D-Mo" had his career high in points, rebounds, and assists as he put up 12 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
It remains to be seen whether Motiejunas will move on to other teams. At the moment, there is no real news on squads actively seeking for his services. It may be safe to say that he will be back with the team by the coming season.
