Houston Texans news: Texans must rebound after tough loss

Heading into Week 3 of the National Football League, the Houston Texans looked like the contenders they always wanted to be. They had a 2-0 record and they looked dangerous on both ends of the field.

Unfortunately, when they were tested by the New England Patriots, they failed miserably.

The Texans had no answer against the Patriots as they were beaten. Their defense was porous and their offense was nowhere to be found. It was a 27-0 thrashing that immediately erased the thought of the Texans as legitimate contenders.

Fan Sided even questioned whether the Texans really had what it takes or looked like a strong team that could not tie things together and challenge other big teams.

Other reports also questioned the effectiveness of J.J. Watt in the game.

Watt looked like a man who was ready to get back to form as one of the best defensive players in the league. Unfortunately, he was a non-factor as he only got an assist on two tackles and the team was only able to sack rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett once.

Admittedly, Watt knew they were not at the Patriots' level.

"They never really put him in a situation where he had to be throwing the ball too much," he said. "They did a great job at the run game, and did a great job all around and he played well being in a tough situation," he added.

Finally, Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler should be much better than what he displayed in the match against the Patriots.

The Texans are lucky to be one of the better teams in an otherwise weak division. However, they must do everything to avoid such defeats if they want to be considered elite.

Osweiler heavily underperformed throughout the night and he would need to completely rid himself of those performances if he wants to be considered alongside Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Cam Newton.

So much is invested on him to lead the team, but if he is inconsistent, the Texans will not get anywhere.
