Xiaomi has big plans for its flagship smartphones that have long copied the iPhone range. However, its recent offering, the Mi Note Pro, proved that the company had set its sights on overtaking Apple. The recently launched HTC One M9 could, however, make the going tough for the Mi Note Pro.

Design

The Mi Note Pro is a sight to behold, thanks to its slightly curved metal frame that is encased in Gorilla 3 Glass on its front and back. On the front is a 2.5D curve while the back panel has a 3D curve. As for the HTC One M9, it has an aluminum body with rounded edges that is hand polished to a fine shine. Additionally it has a number of color options starting with a dual toned rose gold and silver version aside from other options such as gold, gunmetal and pink.

Display

Both phones have good displays. However, the display on the Mi Note Pro is larger and is comprised of an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, which results in a sharp density of 515 pixels per inch. As for the HTC One M9, it has a smaller super LCD3 screen measuring 5.0 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 441 pixels per inch.

Platform

Both the HTC One M9 and the Mi Note Pro have similar specs. Both have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, along with a CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57cores clocked at 2 GHz and an Adreno 430 GPU. As for their operating systems, again they are mostly similar as the Mi Note Pro comes loaded with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop while the HTC One M9 comes with the Android 5.0.x Lollipop.

Memory

A major difference is in memory slots as the HTC One M9 has a slot which can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage. The Mi Note Pro does not have a slot. As for RAM, the Mi Note Pro is the first smartphone with 4GB while the HTC One M9 has 3 GB.

Price

The Mi Note Pro is priced at $532 without a contract, while the SIM-free HTC One M9 could cost around $649.
