HTC One M9 vs Moto X 2014 Comparison: One M9 Better Looking and More Powerful
The second-generation Moto X has been described as a major improvement on its predecessor. Here is how it compares with the latest smartphone from HTC, the One M9.
Design
If you are looking for a premium smartphone, then the One M9 is a good choice as it has a beautiful aluminum body with rounded edges, which has been hand-polished to a fine shine. It also comes in attractive colors ranging from a silver/gold combination, to amber gold, pink, and gunmetal grey. As for the Moto X, it has a metal band on its edge and for its back panel users can choose from variously colored plastic, wood, leather or bamboo versions when customizing their device.
Display
In terms of display, the Moto X has an AMOLED screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch. Compared to this, the One M9 has a smaller super LCD3 screen measuring 5.0 inches with a resolution of1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 441 pixels per inch.
Specs
The specs on the One M9 clearly beat those of the Moto X. The HTC One M9 comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz and an Adreno 430 GPU. The Moto X, on the other hand, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
The Moto X is at a disadvantage here as it does not have a memory slot, while its competitor has one which allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, the Moto X only has 2 GB while the One M9 has 3 GB.
Camera
The camera on the One M9 is a superior 20-megapixel version compared to the 13-megapixel main camera on the Moto X.
Price
When it comes to pricing, the Moto X is cheaper as it is an older device, costing just $99 with a two-year contract. The One M9 costs $199 with a similar contract.
