Huawei Mate 9 release date, news, specs rumors: Leaked photos of Mate 9 surface ahead of announcement

The much-awaited unveiling of the Huawei Mate 9 is expected to happen in a hardware event in Munich, Germany this Thursday, November 9. However, several days before Huawei presents the enhanced specs of their flagship device, leaked photos allegedly belonging to the soon-to-be-released handset have circulated online. 

As reported by iTech Post, the photos of the Huawei Mate 9 was posted on a Chinese tech website called the CNMO, along with the list of rumored specs and design features. The device in the leaked images appears to be covered in gold metal casing, with a fingerprint scanning panel noticeable at the back.

The online publication listed that the Huawei Mate 9 may boast 64-bit, Quad core, 2.5 GHz, Cortex A72 + Quad core, 1.8GHz, HiSilicon Kirin 960 Cortes A53 chipset. It is also expected to boast the Mali T880 MP4 graphics card, while the handset runs in the latest Android Nougat 7.0 OS version.

According to Tech Radar, the appearance of the Huawei Mate 9 in the leaked pictures is estimated to be around 5.9 inches in length. Moreover, its screen panel is expected to sport the IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen with a resolution of up to 1440 x 2560 pixels, plus a multi-touch display panel with 490PPI.

Regarding the storage capacity of the Huawei Mate 9, it is rumored that the three different variants of the device will vary in internal storage size. The low-tier variant is expected to have 64GB storage capacity with 4GB RAM, while the high-tier brand will have 256GB storage with 64GB RAM. The mid-range model will have 12GB internal storage with 4GB RAM.

Not included in the leaked photos is the camera features of the Huawei Mate 9, as BGR mentioned a separate Weibo claiming that the upcoming Huawei device will boast Leica cameras, the 12MP and the 20MP kind. The rear camera is expected to have dual-LED flash, autofocus, phase detection, Geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama, and face and smile detection features. On the other hand, the video recorder will be of high quality at 2160p.

Game N Guide reported that along with the Huawei Mate 9, the event in Munich will also showcase the premium Huawei Mate 9 Pro. One of the Mate 9 Pro's rumored highlights is the 4x Optical Zoom Leica Lens. As expected, the Mate 9 Pro will be much more expensive that the base Mate 9 model, sitting at $1,300. Moreover, the Mate 9 Pro is expected to adopt a curved screen display.
