Huawei P10 news: high-end smartphone can go head to head with Samsung and Apple's 2017 releases
In an effort to up the ante for their smartphones, Huawei is looking for some inspiration from industry giants like Samsung and Apple for their latest high-end rollouts set for 2017.
Countless reports suggest that the upcoming Huawei P10 is currently looking to sport an interesting set of specs and features that can rival either the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the iPhone 8. Said to be having a 5.5-inch quad high-definition (QHD) screen (2,560×1,440) that will be curved at the sides reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and tipped to be what the next iPhone will look like. Should this be the case, and the South Korean company continues to use the same design, tech buffs may be looking at three similar devices when the new year rolls out.
While the display's aesthetics will be borrowed from Samsung, another feature in wireless charging is said to be also coming along. However, while the Seoul-based company may be the main proponent of this capability, Huawei is putting its P10 at direct competition with Apple's latest iPhone, which is said to be also debuting its own spin on the mechanism. The only caveat, however, is that Huawei's smartphones tend to have metallic housing that will make it difficult for the company to tap into the wireless charging bandwagon. Although it would be totally interesting to see if they decide to push through with this feature and find a unique technology that will cater to the device's needs.
Meanwhile, other notable specs from the rumor pool do not sound too shabby. For example, camera-wise the P10 is expected to sport a 12-megapixel (MP) main camera coupled with an 8MP front snapper. Under the hood, a Kirin 960 system on chip (SoC) — with a 2.3GHz octa-core central processing unit (CPU) and Mali G71 graphics processing unit (GPU) —coupled with 6GB of random-access memory (RAM) will run the Android 7.0 Nougat-programmed device. On top of that, an impressive 256GB of internal storage also comes out of the box.
With this seeming push from Huawei via the P10 in order to crack into the big boys club of tech manufacturers, Apple and Samsung may actually have to make space for another group on their level of targeted market. It is important to note that ranking-wise, the Chinese multinational group is the third largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, so it is not impossible for Huawei to take over the market in the foreseeable future.
