iMac 2016 release date rumors: Desktop expected to arrive next month with AMD RX 400 chips
It was no surprise that the iMac 2016 was not part of Apple's keynote event last week. This is because the new iteration of the desktop is expected to be released next month.
According to Bloomberg, Apple will return its attention to its Mac lineup next month, and is preparing updates for fans and patrons of the products.
The iMac 2016, in particular, will reportedly come with an option for new graphics cards coming from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Inc.
This is no surprise since the most recent iMac released from Apple, which is the iMac with 5K Retina display, made use of the AMD Radeon R9.
But AMD has since released more powerful graphics cards. It remains a mystery what video cards will go into the iMac 2016 though.
AMD recently released a slew of new and more powerful graphics cards with the Polaris structure, which comes with Virtual Reality (VR) support and stellar graphics.
WCCF Tech suggests that the AMD Radeon 400 series will likely be the ones to grace the iMac 2016. The most recent of the line include the RX 460, 470 and 480, which will endow the desktop superb power.
Bloomberg has no more information to offer when it comes to the rest of the specs of the iMac 2016, although it is rumored that the new Intel processor Kaby Lake will be under the hood of the computer.
The chip promises a massive boost in performance and power compared to its predecessor, which is the Sky Lake. It will operate at low power and will be more efficient overall.
The iMac 2016 is expected to be launched next month along with the new MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and a standalone display Apple is building with LG.
The current iMac is currently on sale on eBay with an irresistible $400 discount. Price cuts are usually signals for the release of new versions, which suggests that the iMac 2016 could be near.
