iMac 2017 news, updates: Apple CEO dodges mentioning the iMac
There are still no updates regarding a new iMac model. However, Apple CEO reassures their patrons that they are focusing their efforts on the Pro series. Meanwhile, some of the expected updates for the iMac are an enhanced processor, VR support, and an improved flash storage.
Apple last refreshed the iMac model in October 2015, adding a Retina-class screen resolution to the series' smaller models and enhanced the larger ones with Skylake processor chips. This year, there have been no updates when Apple will be releasing a new model or what new features the upcoming iMac will have.
Apple CEO Tim Cook shared in a statement during a shareholder's meeting at their Cupertino campus that the company is focusing more on their Pro series. "The pro area is very important to us. The creative area is very important to us in particular," Cook announced confirmed by Macrumors.
Cook then added, "Don't think something we've done or something that we're doing that isn't visible yet is a signal that our priorities are elsewhere."
A question was raised to Cook, asking if Apple has plans to create a device that combines both the Mac and the iPad. But the Apple CEO responded that the mentioned devices were two separate products that serve different needs of consumers.
"To merge these worlds, you would lose the simplicity of one, and the power of the other," said Cook.
Meanwhile, there is already a list of expectations for the iMac's new features even though there have been no updates on when a new model will be introduced to the market.
TechRadar reports that the new iMac models will most likely be equipped with Intel's latest processors — the Cannonlake. But it was also pointed out that Apple can switch to AMD's Zen processors because of its powerful CPU features.
Although unconfirmed, the new iMac model is anticipated by many to be launched this 2017.
