iMac 2017 release date, specs, rumors: Apple waiting for Kaby Lake processor before launching new iMac model?
Apple's latest version of the iMac is rumored to be released in 2017.
As reported by Mobile & Apps, the newest iMac will probably be launched at the next Apple event in 2017. It is important to note, however, that Apple has not yet issued any official announcements or details regarding the rumor.
The arrival of the iMac 2017 has been speculated for quite some time, and many have wondered about the reason for its delay. However, rumors also suggest that Apple chose to postpone the release of the iMac 2017 in order to wait for the arrival of the Intel's much-anticipated chipset, the Kaby Lake processor, which will be revealed in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The Kaby Lake is just one of the many features that the next generation of the iMac will be equipped with. In a report from The Bitbag, Apple will also be introducing the OLED Touch Bar to the iMac 2017's keyboard. Like the current MacBook Pro, the iMac 2017 will also be replacing its previous Thunderbolt ports with USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports.
Considering the tough competition it faces with Microsoft launching the Surface Studio, tech enthusiasts are also hoping for the upcoming iMac to be equipped with a touch-enabled display. It is also expected to have a 5K display, a 4-core processor, and a native support for 4K video.
The release date of the all-in-one Apple computer product had somewhat always been erratic in contrast to the release schedules of the iPhone and the iPad. Previous launch dates of the iMac in the past were set in various months such as January, August, October, and November.
It has been two years since the existing model of the iMac was released, which is why many expect the next model to launched by 2017.
